FAQ

PAT testing, explained.

What counts as an “item”?

Anything with a plug — amps, power supplies, IEM packs, extension leads, IEC cables, laptops, chargers. Each cable and each appliance counts as one item. If you’re not sure, list what you’ve got in the form and we’ll confirm the pack before you commit.

Do venues actually require this?

Most venues, festivals and insurers expect your electrical equipment to be in-date for PAT testing before it goes on their stage. A current certificate keeps you compliant and keeps you working — we’ve seen acts turned away without one.

How often do I need it done?

For gigging musicians, annually is the usual standard, though it depends on how hard your kit is used. We offer a free annual reminder so you’re never caught out before a show.

What if something fails?

We’ll tell you exactly what failed and why, and in many cases we can repair it on the spot — a re-terminated lead or a replaced plug. We won’t fail your gear for no reason, and we won’t leave you stuck before a gig.

Can you come to us?

Yes — on-site testing is available across Lancashire and the North West, typically within a 15-mile radius of Poulton-le-Fylde. Beyond that, just ask and we’ll quote travel.
